
| Classes and Workshops Samara is a life long dancer who layers the influences of numerous dance forms atop a foundation of tribal bellydance laced with classical ballet to create her own unique fusion. She offers regular classes as well as a variety of workshops including choreographies, fusion samplers, fan dancing, beginning floorwork, intermediate floorwork, moves for props, and Adventures in Isolations. Classes: Develop bellydance skills, fitness, flexibility and strength. Samara offers Beginning Tribal Bellydance and Intermediate classes in 8-week sessions. The courses will cover primary and secondary moves and concepts of American Tribal Bellydance. This dance form is a fusion of Middle Eastern and other forms of dance, standardized for duet and group improvisation. Classes are taught through a scaffolded approach where each class builds upon the previously taught movements and concepts. Level two students should bring zils. Ages: 12+ Min 10 / Max 30 Next sessions: Winter 2010: Tuesdays, April 6th- June 1st. Classes held at the newly remodeled Majestic Theater. Beginner: 7 - 8:15 pm Intermediate: 8:15 - 9:30 pm $69 outside Corvallis city limits, $55 Discount in city price Spring schedule coming soon! The bijou Project will be teaching a workshop entitled "Extending Your Dance" from 12-1:30, and performing in the evening show at 7pm. While traditionally presented as a two part series, these workshops may also be take seperately. Aventures in Isolations: Signature Bijou Combos from the land of pops, locks, drops, and levels. Dynamic Dous: Ready to use moves that create flashy lead changes, dynamic positioning, and are effective for troupes of duets. Extending Your Dance: Signature Bijou Combos that Stretch You Body and Imagination. An introduction to Bijou combos that embrace reaching, stretching, and diverse body angles. The Fan Fanatics Fantasy Workshop: Students will be guided through basic presentation, manipulation, and accentuation utilizing flamenco style fans. This workshop will also provide students with a framework for flowing in and out of basic fan and body movements through subtle steps and elegant poses. Gettin' Down to the Nitty Gritty: A Bijou Approach to Floorwork. Discover one of the most challenging and feared elements of belly dance! Beginning workshop features basic moves and fluidity; Advanced workshop features combos and drills. Utilizing Intention and Intensity through Props: Learn to Highlight Your Dance with Various Props While Still Conveying Intention. This workshop employs moves that work well with various types of props and how to handle numerous props while conveying intention. |
