The Bijou Project is Bend, Oregon's premier Tribal
Fusion Dance Troupe. Founded in 2005, we have
traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest performing at
venues such as the Portland Rose Festival, the
Mediterranean Fantasy Festival, Tribal Quest Northwest
Dancer Showcase, and Tribal:Pura in Eugene.
We also participate in local festivals and events such as
the Procession of the Species Parade, the Bend Summer
Festival and the Bite of Bend as well as local haflas and
Guild events. Dancing is our passion and we enjoy
sharing it with others!
Read on to find out more about The Bijou Project, Tribal
Fusion Belly Dance and our upcoming events. Come on,
embrace your inner shimmy!
American Tribal Style Belly Dance or ATS for short, is a modern twist on the traditional movements of belly dance.
Its uniquely structured moves, gestures, and cues foster a grounded, earthy feel within a troupe improvisational
setting and a palpable dynamic between dancers performing together.
The Bijou Project performs Tribal Fusion belly dance. The Fusion approach expands upon the traditional ATS
repertoire by incorporating movements, gestures, and props from numerous cultural dance forms. Where ATS is
performed almost exclusively in an improvisational troupe setting, Fusion incorporates troupe work, solos,
choreography, and improvisation, thus further diversifying the dance realm.
The last three years have been an exciting time of travel, teaching and performance both in Central Oregon and
throughout the Pacific Northwest. We hope you will join the Bijou Project as a student, audience member, or
supporter as we share our vision, our art, and our love of belly dance.
